Information about Green Cards

Some people believe that if they win the Green Card Lottery, they are guaranteed a Green Card. That is not true, as selection in the Lottery just means that you have moved on to the next step and are now permitted to submit the government documents to get one of the 50,000 visas distributed through the program.

USAFIS has helped thousands of people receive their Green Cards by helping them through the application process.

Form DS-260 must be completed correctly by all applicants for the Green Card, and the form must be signed and electronically submitted to the U.S. State Department’s Kentucky Consular Center (KCC).

A Consular Interview will then be scheduled at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. After submitting the Form DS-260, the confirmation page must be printed to be taken to the Consular Interview.

Here is information for the KCC:

  • KCC Phone: +1-606-526-7500
  • KCC Email: KCCDV@state.gov
  • The KCC is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

The process after the initial selection involves many documents. Most of the 100,000 people who are randomly selected each year fail to get a Green Card through the Lottery because they don’t follow all of the steps correctly.
